How Neurons Make Decisions 2
How Neurons Make Decisions 3
How Neurons Make Decisions 4
Part 4 of my attempt to create an audio narrative to describe how neurons both make decisions and how they "learn" from very, very, bad decisions; like the time I tried to get my daughter Ella, at age two, to tough out the rain without an umbrella. After this one experience, my brain and the neurons within, had to reassess the role of an umbrella when it rains. So, how do neurons make decisions and how might they reassess these decisions (i.e., how do we learn). I have tried to describe several steps in neuron function; what are the initial conditions, why do ions move across the cell membrane, how do ions move across the cell membrane, what happens when ions move across a cell membrane, action potentials, how Ohm's law describes the strength of synaptic input, how inputs may be both "pros" or "cons," synaptic transmission, and neurotransmitters.
